BLint Add-on

What is BLint?

BLint streamlines Blender workflows by maintaining standards and catching potential issues. It allows users to run quality checks on Blender file(s). These checks are based on predefined rules.

Purpose

  • Standardization: It helps maintain consistent conventions across project files.
  • Workflow Efficiency: When updating multiple .blend files, BLint speeds up the process.
  • Quality Assurance: It automates checks before rendering or sending files to a render farm.

Examples of rules may include:

  • Naming Conventions: Ensures consistent and meaningful names for objects, materials, etc.
  • Render Settings: Verifies settings that impact performance or expected output.
  • Texture Management: Ensures textures are either packed or stored in a specific folder.

In some cases, an issue can be easily fixed. Each rule has the option of implementing an automatic fix. External configurations can be used as well as the rules that come built-in.

BLint identifies problems, and some can be automatically fixed. Users can customize rules using external configurations or rely on the one included with the add-on.
